Major: Lost Boy - Young Graeme - Facial Expressions

Young Graeme is now near completion. The lighting turned out better with these renders, his teeth are a tad too white I think though as I used Light Linking/Breaking to show his teeth but not have the light affect the other parts of the face, I need to dial it down a bit.

Major: Lost Boy - Young Graeme - Eyebrow Rig Complete

With Young Graeme's eyebrows complete I have completed the eyebrows for the characters, as Mrs Pratt doesn't have any eyebrows I am going to add a blendshape to turn her eyelids inwards to give her a more sad look when needed. I may do the same for Young Graeme as I feel his sad eyebrows aren't sad enough, I am also going to add joints to his hair as when his eyebrows are raised it raises the hair too.

Major: Lost Boy - Young Graeme - Blink Rig complete

I have completed the eye rig for Young Graeme, I may go in and smooth out the eye creases in the outer edges as to me it makes his eyes look swollen and like someone punched him (a bully perhaps..) although a blink is so quick my time could be spent elsewhere.

Major: Lost Boy - Young Graeme - Face Rigging

When I have the teeth and tongues modelled for all characters I am going to do some renders of their face blenshapes so that I can include them in my Art Of.

Major: Lost Boy - Young Graeme - Skinned

I have decided to skin all of my characters one after the other and then move onto rigging them as this workflow works more efficiently for me. I am in the process of rigging the body of Mrs Pratt, when her body is finished I will then rig the body of Young Graeme. Here is Young Graeme's skinning process, I had to delete the ribbon spine and use an FK spine instead as Alan advised that because I had issues with rigging the ribbon spine for Present Graeme it would make more sense to have all characters use the same joint system as it will be more feasible with animating.

Minor: Lost Boy - The Cupboard Scene Render

The previz for Lost Boy is near completion. I wanted to show a render of the cupboard scene from the previz, I painted over the render to add in those scracthy textures and amplified the yellow to get a feel for how it will look in the final film with fully textured and lit scenes.

Minor: Lost Boy - Young Graeme Updated Renders

With these renders I put a white background behind young Graeme to represent the white space that is going to be in the world of Lost Boy. I added the toon shader which I think goes nice against the white background, I need to tweak it further so that the toon shows up in the inside lines of young Graeme and also see if it works to my advantage with camera movements, I also added the rosy cheeks which I think gives him a nice quirk.

Minor: Lost Boy - Young Graeme - Toon Tests

I decided to redo the hair for young Graeme as the geometry was all over the place and treating it like layers has proven better, he still needs some tweaks especially in the ear. I have also spent some time playing around with the new toon shader in Maya, I like the way that it looks and it does go with the scratchy sketchy aesthetic that I am going for with Lost Boy. I am unsure if I will use the shader in the final film as of yet but I will keep playing around with it, I would like to see if I cam make it crisper and I think it could be useful and interesting if coupled with rotoscoping and also for environment elements.

Minor: Lost Boy: Young Graeme - Update

I have been block modelling the hairstyle for young Graeme I also pulled his eyes down further as I realised they looked too high up in my previous update and made him look older than he needed to be. The eyes and ears still need more time and I will tackle these next.
